Aquiares, founded in 1890, is one of Costa Rica's oldest coffee estates. Located on the fertile slopes of the Turrialba volcano, the farm spans over 600 hectares of shaded coffee alongside 200 hectares of protected rainforest. The name translates to "land between rivers", reflecting the pristine water and volcanic soils that characterise this celebrated origin. Leadership transformed the operation in the early 1990s under Don Alfonso Robelo, establishing it as a specialty coffee leader. His son Diego continues advancing the farm through innovative processing and pioneering varieties. The estate functions as a complete coffee community with its own nursery, wet mill and infrastructure, managing production from seed to export.
