Terms of Use

Last updated: 21 March 2026

Plain English Summary

BeanScore is a coffee discovery and review platform. By using it, you agree to be honest in your reviews, keep your account secure, and treat the community with respect. Your reviews are publicly visible. We can remove content or accounts that break the rules. We don't guarantee that all coffee data is perfectly accurate — it's provided in good faith. The full legal details are below.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By accessing or using BeanScore — whether by creating an account, browsing the platform, or interacting with any feature — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use BeanScore. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and BeanScore. Your continued use following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. About BeanScore

BeanScore is a coffee discovery and review platform that allows users to discover, rate, and track speciality coffees; build a personal Taste DNA profile; and engage with a community of coffee enthusiasts. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time. Where changes are material, we will give reasonable advance notice.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use BeanScore. If you are between 13 and 17, you may only use the platform with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By using BeanScore, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

BeanScore is primarily intended for users in the United Kingdom. If you access the platform from outside the UK, you are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable local laws.

4. Your Account

To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information.
  • Keep your login credentials confidential and not share them with anyone.
  • Notify us promptly at hello@beanscore.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • Maintain only one account per person. Duplicate or secondary accounts may be removed without notice.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. BeanScore is not liable for any loss arising from your failure to keep your credentials secure.

5. Usernames

When choosing a username, you must not:

  • Impersonate any person, business, or organisation.
  • Use the name, trademark, or brand of a third party in a way that is misleading or likely to cause confusion.
  • Select a username that is offensive, abusive, or otherwise violates these Terms.

BeanScore reserves the right to change, reclaim, or remove any username at our sole discretion, including where a username infringes a third party's intellectual property rights or violates these Terms. We may do this without prior notice and without liability to you.

6. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of the reviews, ratings, profile content, and any other material you submit to BeanScore ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant BeanScore a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use, host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content within the BeanScore platform and in connection with promoting the service.

You acknowledge that User Content — including your reviews, ratings, profile image, and username — is publicly visible by default and may be seen by other users and visitors without an account. If you do not want certain content to be public, do not submit it to BeanScore.

You may edit or delete your reviews at any time from your profile. Deleted reviews are removed from public view and all scoring calculations immediately and permanently.

You represent that you have all necessary rights to submit your User Content and that doing so does not infringe the rights of any third party.

7. Content Rules & Honesty Policy

The value of BeanScore depends on honest, genuine contributions from the community. You agree that your reviews and other content will:

  • Reflect your genuine, first-hand experience with the coffee being reviewed.
  • Not be false, fabricated, or written on behalf of a third party (including a roaster or retailer).
  • Not be defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful to individuals or groups.
  • Not contain spam, advertising, or unsolicited commercial messages.
  • Not violate any applicable law, including intellectual property or data protection law.
  • Not include personal data of third parties without their consent.

Submitting fake or incentivised reviews is a serious breach of these Terms and may result in immediate account suspension.

8. Moderation & Enforcement

BeanScore may, but is not obliged to, review User Content. We reserve the right at our sole discretion to:

  • Remove, edit, or restrict any content that violates these Terms or that we deem inappropriate.
  • Suspend or permanently terminate any account, with or without notice, for breach of these Terms or for conduct that we reasonably believe harms the BeanScore community or platform.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement where required by law.

Where a breach is minor, we may give you the opportunity to remedy it before taking further action. For serious breaches — including fraud, harassment, or illegal activity — we may act immediately. Removal of content or termination of an account does not give rise to any right to compensation.

9. Coffee & Third-Party Data

Some coffee information displayed on BeanScore — including product details, tasting notes, origin data, and pricing — may be sourced from third-party providers, roasters, or public databases. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of this information. Prices shown are indicative only and may not reflect current retail prices. BeanScore makes no representation that any coffee is available for purchase or that any listed roaster or retailer currently operates.

10. Platform Features

Features such as swipe-based discovery, favourites, Taste DNA profiling, and personalised recommendations are provided as internal tools to enhance your experience. These features are subject to change, limitation, or removal at any time.

BeanScore does not guarantee continuous or uninterrupted availability of the platform. We may carry out maintenance, updates, or emergency interventions that temporarily affect access. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by downtime or feature changes.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

BeanScore is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any express or implied warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the platform will be free of errors, that defects will be corrected, or that any content (including user reviews and coffee data) is accurate, complete, or reliable. The views expressed in user reviews are those of the individual authors and do not represent the views of BeanScore. We assume no responsibility for the accuracy of any opinion posted on the platform.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BeanScore shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of or inability to use the platform.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of BeanScore shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim. If you have not made any payments, our liability shall not exceed £50.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

13. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may update or modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes at least 14 days in advance, via email or in-app notice. The date of the most recent revision is shown at the top of this page.

Your continued use of BeanScore after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the platform and may delete your account.

14. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales for the resolution of any disputes.
